Loyola English Medium School, Vijayapura, hosted its grand Luminous Fest, an inter-school competition, on 29.10.2024, which saw an overwhelming participation of 41 schools and around 600 students. The event was a remarkable celebration of talent and creativity, featuring a wide range of competitions such as Drawing, Art and Craft, Science Exhibition, Cooking Without Fire, Quiz, Bhavegeete, Storytelling, Speech, Collage, Folk Dance, Western Dance, and Tableau (Roopaka). The event began with the students leading the anchoring, a prayer dance, and a welcome address, reflecting the school’s emphasis on student leadership. The chief guest for the inaugural ceremony was Assistant Commissioner Vinay Patil (Deputy Director, Food and Civil Supplies, Vijayapura), who spoke highly of the event and its significance in fostering inter-school camaraderie. Fr. Santhosh Fernandes SJ, who introduced the theme of the fest, played a key role in setting the tone for the day. The president for the function, Fr. Lancy Fernandes SJ, also addressed the gathering and applauded the efforts of the participants. After the felicitation of the chief guest, the various competitions commenced. The students showcased their skills and creativity across multiple categories, contributing to a lively and competitive atmosphere. At noon, a lunch was provided for all participants, students, and teachers. Post lunch, the closing ceremony began, once again anchored by the students. The ceremony included a heartfelt prayer song and a welcome speech, followed by reflections on the event. Four students from different schools and two teachers shared their opinions, expressing their appreciation for the fest and its smooth organization. The president of the closing ceremony was Fr. Ronald Serrao SJ, who delivered an inspiring speech. Principal Fr. Santhosh Fernandes SJ also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of such events in the holistic development of students. The chief guest for the closing ceremony, Mr. Abdul Rajak Horti (Vijayapura Mayor), spoke highly of the fest’s success, and the Guest of Honor, Ms. Arti Shahapur (Corporator, Ward No. 33), also shared her thoughts. The event's coordinator, Mr. Abdulhameed, ensured that all activities ran smoothly throughout the day. The prize distribution was conducted by Mr. Prakash (Assistant Teacher), where all participants were recognized for their efforts, and the winners from various schools were honored. The most anticipated award of the day, the Overall Champion Trophy, was awarded to St. Joseph School, marking a triumphant conclusion to the day’s events. The Luminous Fest was not only a celebration of academic and artistic excellence but also a testament to the spirit of teamwork and unity among the schools in Vijayapura.
